According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the head coach of American club Inter Miami Gerardo Martino intends to leave the team.
The source reports that Spanish coach Xavi, who previously managed Barcelona, could become the new head of the American team. Xavi left his position at the helm of the Blaugrana at the end of the last season, during which he led the team to victory in the Spanish Championship and the Supercup.
Martino took over Inter Miami in the summer of 2023. Prior to this, he coached national teams of Mexico, Argentina, and Paraguay, as well as clubs Atlanta United and Barcelona.
In the current season, Inter Miami were the winners of the regular season but were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, losing to Atlanta.
Previously, Barcelona president Joan Laporta responded to a question about why he decided to dismiss Xavi from the head coach position of the Blaugrana.
As reported by talkSPORT, Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi intends to stay with the American club until the end of his contract in 2026.
