Former Benfica and Portuguese national team player Antonio Fonseca commented on the victory of the national team in the Euro-2024 Round of 16 match against Slovenia.

The team played well, but I was nervous before the penalties, although who wasn’t nervous in Portugal? Ronaldo executed his penalty in the game very well. I believe that it wasn’t his miss but a great save by Jan Oblak. Oblak and Portuguese goalkeeper Costa were the best players of the match. As for Cristiano's tears, there were raw emotions, nothing more. I think Portugal won't be the favorite against France; the teams will be even.
It is worth reminding that both the Portuguese and Slovenian teams did not score during regular time. The Portuguese national team won in the post-match penalty shootout with a score of 3:0.
Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score a penalty kick in the 105th minute of the match and displayed an emotional reaction to it. Later, Ronaldo scored in the penalty shootout.
In the Euro-2024 quarter-finals, Portugal will face France on Friday, July 5 at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. The match will begin at 22:00 GMT+3.
