Paulo Fonseca, the head coach of French club Lyon, could be suspended for seven months following his ejection during the 24th round of Ligue 1 against Brest.
The match ended with Lyon winning 2-1, leaving them in sixth place in the French league standings with 39 points after 24 rounds.
Towards the end of the game against Brest, Fonseca was involved in a heated exchange with referee Benoît Millot, aggressively criticizing the officiating. According to RMC Sport, Fonseca's actions may fall under LFP's (French League governing body's) Article 8, regarding “threatening behavior”.
Despite the coach’s apologies, the disciplinary committee of Ligue 1 is expected to impose sanctions on Fonseca.
