FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the introduction of a simplified VAR system to help referees. Infantino made the announcement at the organization's congress in Rwanda.
Gianni Infantino
We have introduced VAR in more than 100 countries, and we are also bringing in the "light" option, which requires four cameras. Also we are moving on to VAR Zero - if you don't have four cameras, you can install at least one.
He emphasized that the organization is going to further improve the system to ensure that all football federations have access to technology to assist referees.
Recall that the VAR system was approved in 2016 by the International Council of Football Associations.
