The FIFA Council has established the number of participants in the first Women's Club World Championship, scheduled for 2026, according to a statement on the organization's website.
According to the source, 16 teams will take part in the inaugural tournament, which will be held in January-February 2026.
It was previously reported that the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) and the World Leagues Forum (WLF) sent a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino demanding not to hold the men's Club World Cup in a new format in 2025 and threatened legal action.
