Rapper Drake has stepped in to help Serie A club Venezia avoid bankruptcy by settling the team’s debts totaling €40 million, as revealed by the artist's brand manager, Matte Babel.
Babel told GQ Italia:
Venice is an incredible city and Venezia has always been a special club. I spoke to Drake, then Brad and I discussed the details of how we could help. Within two weeks we had a deal, raised the money needed to pay the salaries and avoid bankruptcy.
It's worth noting that Babel is a friend of Venezia co-owner Brad Katsuyama.
Additionally, at the end of the 2023/2024 season, which saw Venezia return to Serie A, former Spartak coach Paolo Vanoli left the club.
