Goalkeeper for PSG and Italy's national team Gianluigi Donnarumma has commented on Italy's defeat against Switzerland in the Euro-2024 round of 16 match.
The game took place on June 29th at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin and ended in a victory for Team A under Murat Yakin's guidance with a score of 2-0. Goals were scored by midfielder Remo Froyler (37th minute) and forward Ruben Vargas (46th minute).
Donnarumma was quoted by sports insider Fabrizio Romano as saying
We can just say sorry to our fans. It’s unacceptable, we have been poor for the entire game. That’s the reality”. “We have been terrible in the first half. It’s the reality, we have to accept that.
Thanks to this victory, the alpine team will play in the quarter-finals on July 6th against the winner of the match between England and Slovakia. The Italians have relinquished their champion status from Euro-2020.
