Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has announced via social media that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the current season.
These will be my final months as a player for Manchester City. None of this is easy to write, but as footballers, we all know this day will come. That day has come, and you deserve to hear it from me first. Football led me to all of you and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this stage would change my life. Whether we like it or not, it’s time to say goodbye. Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter.
De Bruyne has played for Manchester City since 2015. During this time, he has won the English Premier League six times, the English League Cup five times, the FA Community Shield three times, the FA Cup twice, and has also secured victory in the UEFA Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup once each.
He has appeared in a total of 413 matches across all competitions for the club, scoring 106 goals and providing 174 assists.
At the end of last year, it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo, a forward for Al-Nassr, attempted to persuade the club's management to offer the 33-year-old De Bruyne a contract with a salary of €1.19 million per week.
