Sources Sky Sport and Relevo have reported that 33-year-old former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is close to joining Fiorentina as a free agent.
De Gea has been a free agent since leaving Manchester United last summer. It is expected that the Spaniard will soon sign a contract with Fiorentina lasting until the summer of 2025, with an option for an additional season.
The goalkeeper played for Manchester United from 2011 to 2023. He has made 415 appearances, keeping 148 clean sheets and conceding 446 goals. Transfermarkt values de Gea at 5 million euros.
During his time with the Red Devils, de Gea won the Premier League, FA Cup, two EFL Cups, UEFA Europa League, and three FA Community Shields. In 2023, he was replaced at Manchester United by Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana.
In January 2024, Daily Mail reported that the Spaniard was in negotiations with Saudi club Al-Shabab.
