Saudi football club Al-Nassr, featuring forward Cristiano Ronaldo, announced the dismissal of head coach Luis Castro on their social media channels.
Castro joined Al-Nassr in July 2023. The team secured one trophy under his leadership, winning the Arab Champions League in 2023.
On Monday, the team played to a 1-1 draw against Iraqi side Al-Shorta in their opening match of the Asian Champions League. In August, Al-Nassr suffered a heavy defeat to Al Hilal, losing 1-4 in the Saudi Super Cup final.
According to media reports, former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli is a potential replacement for Castro. In August, it was reported that Ronaldo was dissatisfied with Castro and called for Zinedine Zidane to be appointed as the new head coach.
