English-language media outlet Give me Sport has compiled a ranking of the 11 worst transfers in the history of football, placing midfielder Philippe Coutinho's move from Liverpool to Barcelona at the top of the list.
The Brazilian joined the Blaugrana in early 2018 for £121.5 million. Another Barcelona transfer, Antoine Griezmann's move from Atletico in the summer of 2019 for £108 million, took second place on the list.
Eden Hazard's transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid for £103 million rounded out the top three. Romelu Lukaku (from Inter to Chelsea) and Alexis Sanchez (from Arsenal to Manchester United) also made it to the top five. Andriy Shevchenko is in sixth place for his transfer from AC Milan to Chelsea in 2006.
Earlier, famous website Goal also called Coutinho's transfer to Barcelona the worst in the history of football.
