Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tore the cruciate ligament of the knee at the team's practice two days before the start of the Spanish La Liga season, the press service of the club reports.
In the near future, the goalkeeper will undergo surgery on the damaged right knee.
The 31-year-old Belgian played 49 matches for Real Madrid last season (17 clean sheets), conceding 49 goals.
His contract with the club runs until the end of June 2026, Transfermarkt website estimates the market value of the goalkeeper at €45 million.
