Gerardo Martino, the head coach of Inter Miami, addressed inquiries regarding the health of 37-year-old forward Lionel Messi, who sustained a leg injury during the final match of the 2024 Copa America.
In the final against Colombia (1-0), Messi injured his leg and watched the remainder of the match from the substitutes' bench.

Leo, like I said the other day, he's already on the field. He is working with his physical therapist, he's out of the medical ward, he is training with a ball. So he has to get back in shape or recover most of his fitness that any player loses when they are out for five or six weeks, and to feel confident that his injury is behind him. But it is something that I believe is not very far from happening.
Lionel Messi is an Olympic champion, a World Cup champion, a two-time Copa America winner, and a champion of the Finalissima. He has represented the Argentina national team since 2005. The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner transferred from PSG to Inter Miami in July 2023.
