Christian Noboa Considers Retirement to Become President of Ecuador's Emelec

In an interview with Segmento Football, former Ecuadorian national team player Christian Noboa expressed his desire to take over as president of Ecuadorian Serie A club Emelec.

The 39-year-old midfielder indicated he is ready to end his playing career and would consider running for president if the Ecuadorian Ministry of Sports does not recognize Jorge Guzmán as the elected president and calls for new elections. In a comment to Match TV on December 10, 2024, Noboa hinted at the possibility of retiring from professional football.

Christian Noboa
We have been working on this for a couple of months, both in terms of the sports aspects and with investors and sponsors we've been in contact with.

On January 24, 2024, Noboa signed with Emelec, the club where he began his football career. However, he has yet to play an official match for the team due to a serious injury. Currently, his employment agreement with the club is suspended.
