Chelsea, Newcastle And Aston Villa Support Man City In Lawsuit Against Premier League

According to the Daily Mail, English Premier League clubs Chelsea, Newcastle and Aston Villa have backed Manchester City's lawsuit against the league.

According to the source, Chelsea have issued a statement in which they also challenge the league's rules on deals with associated parties. In turn, Aston Villa and Newcastle have refused to deny Man City's allegations against the league and believe they are justified.

Twelve other EPL clubs, including Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United, sided with the league, providing testimonies and detailed evidence in support.

Introduced in 2021 after Saudi Arabia's Saudi Public Investment Fund bought Newcastle, the league's rules require independent evaluations of clubs' commercial deals for fair market value.

Manchester City filed a 165-page lawsuit claiming the rule is unlawful and demanding compensation from the Premier League. Hearings will commence on June 10 and last two weeks.

Last year, the English league formally charged Manchester City with 115 financial rule violations between the 2009/10 season and the 2017/18 season, with the investigation starting in 2018.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters stated that hearings on City's case will commence soon.
