Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has agreed to join Atletico Madrid for £33.7 million after Diego Simeone pushed hard to convince the midfielder to move to Spain.
The 24-year-old England international is set to travel to Spain on Monday to complete his medical and formally put pen to paper on Atletico's contract, valid until 2029. The midfielder played a crucial role in Mauricio Pochettino’s team last season, appearing in 50 matches across all competitions and making 16 goal contributions. However, since his contract is set to expire in 2025, the Blues did not want to take the risk of losing him for free next year.
Fabrizio Romano broke the news on Gallagher’s green light, and it has since been confirmed by other sources in England.
