At a briefing before the start of Euro 2024, UEFA Referees Committee chairman Roberto Rosetti announced that only team captains will be permitted to communicate with referees.
The only exception might be goalkeeper-captains. Before the game, team representatives must inform the referee of the player who has the right to speak with the referee. It is worth noting that there will be only two teams at the tournament whose captain is a goalkeeper: Italy (Gianluigi Donnarumma) and Slovenia (Jan Oblak).
The European Championship will be held in Germany from June 14 to July 14. The opening match at the Munich Allianz Arena between the host team and Scotland will kick off at 22:00 GMT+3.
