Fabian Hurzeler, the head coach of English club Brighton, has been awarded the Premier League (EPL) Manager of the Month for August, according to the EPL website.
At 31 years old, Hurtzeler is the youngest head coach in EPL history and has set the record as the youngest recipient of the Manager of the Month award.
Remarkably, he received this award in his very first month managing in England. The last manager to achieve a similar feat was Ange Postecoglou with Tottenham in August 2023. Hurtzeler is also the first Brighton manager to win this accolade since Chris Hughton in February 2018.
Hurzeler was in competition for the award against Mikel Arteta (Arsenal), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), and Arne Slot (Liverpool).
The German took over Brighton in June 2024 after previously managing Hamburg's St. Pauli, where he led the team to victory in the second German division and promotion to the Bundesliga. His contract with Brighton runs until the end of June 2027. As a player, Hurtzeler played for Pipinsried and Eimsbüttel.
Brighton currently sits in third place in the EPL standings, with seven points. They will play their next match on September 17 at 17:00 GMT+3 against Ipswich Town.
