The winner of the Ballon d'Or-2022, French forward Karim Benzema is unlikely to take part in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to L'Equipe.
According to the source, the 34-year-old footballer won't participate in the match against Australia on November 22 because of a muscle injury, the severity of which will be known after an MRI examination. Preliminary data suggests that Benzema may miss the entire tournament in Qatar.
It should be recalled, Benzema missed the last four matches in the Spanish championship because of a hip injury, but was included in the final bid for the French national team at the 2022 World Cup.
Benzema, who plays for Real Madrid, has played in seven matches this season and scored five goals.
The 22nd World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 18, 2022. France will play in the same group as Australia, Denmark and Tunisia.
