UEFA will investigate the behavior of England midfielder Jude Bellingham during the Euro 2024 Round of 16 match against Slovakia (2-1). This was announced by the organization's press service.
After scoring a goal, Bellingham gestured towards his groin area and waved his hand. The player was accused of showing disrespect to the fans and players of the opposing team. Shortly after, Jude stated that the gesture was merely an "inside joke" and he respects the Slovak fans and players.
UEFA stated that information on the investigation will be released shortly.
In the quarterfinals, the England national team will face Switzerland, who defeated the defending Euro champions, Italy (2-0).
