German Bundesliga club Bayern Munich has issued an official statement regarding their defenderNoussair Mazraoui, who initially supported Palestine in the armed conflict with Israel.
Earlier, the 25-year-old Moroccan posted a video on Instagram with a prayer voiceover supporting the "oppressed brothers from Palestine," calling on people to help them win. The video received criticism from the club and the media.
According to the Bayern management, the team had a conversation about it with Mazraoui after his return from the national team, and concluded that the player was also against violence and terrorism:
FC Bayern and Noussair Mazraoui strongly oppose the transfer of the Middle East conflict and its violence to Germany, which is committed to peace. FC Bayern stands by Germany's Jewish community and by Israel's side; nothing justifies the murder of children and families. Noussair Mazraoui will remain in the FC Bayern squad, but is out of action due to an injury he sustained.
It should be noted that Mazraoui played six matches in the German championship in the season-2023/2024, where he made one assist, and one game in the Champions League, where he also made one assist. The Moroccan defender's contract with the club runs until the end of June 2026, and the market value of the player, according to Transfermarkt, is €28 million.
