Bayer Leverkusen's head coach Xabi Alonso intends to bring 39-year-old Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo back to European football, according to Saudi journalist Alhazza Mutab on his social media.
According to the journalist, Alonso personally wants to invite Ronaldo to Bayer. The Spaniard is confident that the experienced Portuguese will help Bayer in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Ronaldo and Alonso played together at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2014.
The Portuguese has been playing in Saudi Arabia since January 2023. Ronaldo has scored 56 goals and made 15 assists in 62 matches for Al-Nassr. The 39-year-old striker's agreement with the club is valid until June 2025. The Transfermarkt website estimates the forward's market value at €15 million.
Bayer became the Bundesliga champion early in this season. In addition, on May 25, the team coached by Xabi Alonso will play in the final of the German Cup.
Ronaldo previously stated that playing football continues to motivate him throughout his career.
