Former Dynamo Moscow defender Radoslav Batak shared his thoughts on the successes of Serbian football in 2024 with Telecomasia.net, and also compared Serbian football to Russian football.
– This year has been quite good for Serbian football and the national team. The team improved by the end of the year, delivering strong performances against Switzerland and Denmark.
– Did Serbia fail at Euro 2024?
– One could say that. Now we can analyze the tournament. But Serbia was in a very tough group. England even reached the final of the tournament. Our players lacked cohesion after a demanding season, but they were eager to get out of the group. Serbia could have progressed, but they were unfortunate in their matches against Slovenia and Denmark.
– Is the Russian national team weaker than the Serbian team now?
– It’s hard to say. The Russian national team isn’t competing in international tournaments. However, the Serbian team has many strong players who play for top European clubs.
As of December 2024, Serbia is ranked 32nd in the FIFA rankings with 1,514 points.
