Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez, who was recovering from a previous injury, has suffered a new strain to his right thigh muscle during a team training session, as reported on the official website of the Spanish club.
Lopez is expected to spend approximately another three weeks on the sidelines.
He had already missed international matches with the Spanish national team in the Nations League against Serbia and Switzerland, as well as a La Liga game against Girona on September 15, due to issues with the back of his thigh. His return was initially scheduled for next week.
The 21-year-old Lopez is a graduate of Barcelona's academy and has played 45 official matches for the team, scoring 11 goals.
In the summer of 2024, he won the European Championship and earned a gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris.
Earlier, Marca reported that Barcelona plans to extend the contract of Lamine Yamal until 2030.
