Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati and member of the Spanish national team has been recognized as the highest-paid female footballer in the world, according to ESPN.
The winner of the Ballon d'Or and the Laureus award for the best sportswoman in the world, Bonmati has extended her contract with Barcelona, which is now set to run until June 30, 2028.
While her salary remains undisclosed, sources indicate that Aitana is now the highest-paid female footballer globally.
Aitana Bonmati is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy and has been playing for the first team since 2016. During her time with the club, she has participated in 275 matches, scoring 96 goals.
She has won 23 trophies with the team, including three victories in the Women's Champions League. In the summer of 2023, Bonmati became a World Champion with the Spanish national team.
