Barcelona has informed Athletic Bilbao winger and Spanish national team member Nico Williams that the summer transfer window is his last chance to join the club.
The talented winger remains Barcelona's main transfer target. The club has agreed to pay the buyout clause of €58 million, but Williams has yet to give his consent for the move. While he is eager to play for the Blaugrana, he promised his brother, who also plays for Athletic Bilbao, that he would spend at least one more season in European competitions with him.
According to sources at Cadena SER, Barcelona has issued an ultimatum: the time to make the move is now or it may not happen at all. The Catalan club is not willing to wait until next summer.
Recently, it has been revealed that Nike has entered the negotiations, as Barcelona is expected to sign a significant sponsorship deal with the brand. French club Paris Saint-Germain is also in the race for the player, but Nico Williams prefers to stay in Spain.
Williams has been with Athletic Bilbao since 2021, playing in 122 matches, scoring 20 goals, and providing 26 assists during that time. His current contract runs until June 30, 2027, and experts at Transfermarkt estimate his market value at €70
million.
