Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed his club's ambitions for the 2023/24 Champions League after meeting with UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin.
On June 30, it was reported that UEFA representatives notified Laporta that the team would be able to play in the new Champions League.
Joan Laporta, Mundo Deportivo
The inspectors found that there were no grounds for sanctions. I hope that this decision will be officially confirmed. Within 10 days everything will be confirmed, this is great news. I met with Čeferin and he understood the explanations about the Negreira case. We count on playing the Champions League next season.
The media wrote that from 2016 to 2018, Barça transferred a total of €1.4 million in cash to DASNIL 95, which is owned by Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.
Negreira was then vice president of the technical referee committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Earlier, the Spanish prosecutor's office formally brought charges against Barcelona, which paid more than €7 million to the head of the Spanish refereeing committee between 2001 and 2018.
