La Liga club Barcelona is concerned that they may not be able to register midfielder Dani Olmo for the second half of the 2024/2025 season due to financial difficulties.
According to Sport.es, Barcelona will receive financial assistance from their sponsor, American sports brand Nike, later than expected. Besides, the return of injured defender Andreas Christensen could complicate the registration process even further. It is likely that Barcelona will only be able to register one of the two players.
The 26-year-old Spanish international joined Barcelona on August 9, signing a contract that runs until the end of June 2030. In the 2024/2025 season, Olmo has played four matches in La Liga, scoring three goals, and one match in the Champions League. His market value is estimated at €60 million, according to Transfermarkt.
On September 14, Marca reported that Barcelona could lose Olmo due to financial hardship as they are not complying with the 1:1 rule.
