Barcelona are considering the possibility of re-signing their legendary forward Lionel Messi, according to TEAMtalk. The club reportedly plans to bring the Argentine back after the 2026 World Cup.
This move aligns with Barcelona's plans to hold a grand reopening ceremony for the renovated Camp Nou stadium ahead of the 2026/27 season. The club's management hopes that Messi will be a symbol of this event, and the player may even retire in his hometown team.
Currently, Barcelona are playing at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium due to renovations at Camp Nou and aim to return to their home ground by the end of the current season. However, even if that happens, the stadium will operate at limited capacity until the final stages of the renovations are complete.
The renovation is expected to be complete by the 2026/27 season, when the club hopes to introduce Messi.
Recall that Lionel played for Barcelona from 2003 to 2021, winning six Ballon d'Or awards, four Champions League titles, and numerous other achievements.
