On Tuesday, April 8, the first matches of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals took place.
England secured at least second place in the European club rankings, meaning the Premier League's fifth team automatically qualifies for the 2025/26 Champions League.
It is noted that there is a possibility that seven clubs from England could participate in the next Champions League. For this to happen, Aston Villa would need to win the prestigious European tournament while finishing outside the top four in the Premier League, and either Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspur would have to win the UEFA Europa League while remaining outside the top four in their national league.
Currently, the top five teams in the Premier League are: Liverpool (73 points), Arsenal (62), Nottingham Forest (57), Chelsea (53), and Newcastle (53).
Earlier, London’s Arsenal convincingly defeated Real Madrid in the first match of the Champions League quarter-finals.
Additionally, Bayern Munich's Harry Kane became the first English player to score ten goals in a single Champions League campaign.
