Mikel Arteta, the head coach of London’s Arsenal, commented on the impressive victory over Monaco (3:0) in the sixth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Mikel Arteta for BBC
We started the game very well, in the first half we should have put the game to bed but we didn't. In the Champions League you will have difficult moments and we suffered, but then with the second goal and the game was in control. We could have scored many goals from open play but, anyway, very happy.
Currently, Arsenal sit in third place in the Champions League group stage table, having collected 13 points. Monaco occupy the 16th position with ten points.
In the remaining two group stage matches, the Gunners will face Dinamo Zagreb and Girona.
Previously, Mikel Arteta signed a new three-year contract with Arsenal, extending until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Former London club goalkeeper Jens Lehmann suggested that the Spanish manager may not be the right fit for the English side.
