The London football club Arsenal has confirmed the departure of sporting director Eduardo Gaspar, commonly known as Edu, as reported on the club's official website.
Earlier, Sky Sports speculated that the Brazilian might leave the Gunners due to interest from clubs owned by Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis, which include Nottingham Forest, Olympiacos, and Rio Ave.
This was an incredibly hard decision to make. Now it is time to pursue a different challenge. Arsenal will always remain in my heart. I wish the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best.
Edu joined Arsenal in 2019 as the technical director and was appointed the club's first-ever sporting director in 2022. During his tenure, Arsenal won the FA Cup and finished as runners-up in the Premier League twice. Currently, the team sits fifth in the league standings.
It has also been reported that the London club is interested in signing midfielder Arda Güler from Real Madrid. Additionally, there have been rumors about the club’s desire to acquire winger Lamine Yamal from Barcelona.
