Argentina's quarterfinal match against the Netherlands sets an anti-record for yellow cards in World Cups

The Argentina vs Netherlands quarterfinal match at the 2022 tournament in Qatar set an anti-World Cup record for the number of yellow cards.

The chief referee of the match showed 17 yellow cards. During the match, there were several conflicts between the players of the national teams that could've escalated into a brawl.

The main time of the meeting ended in a draw - 2-2. Nahuel Molina and Lionel Messi scored a penalty goal for Argentina. In the Netherlands Wout Weghorst scored a double. The Argentines were stronger in the penalty shoot-out - 4-3.

The Argentinians will compete for the final against the national team of Croatia, which had previously defeated the Brazilian national team in a penalty shoot-out.
