Antonio Fonseca: Ronaldo May Not Be A Good Choice For Portugal For World Cup 2026

Former player of Benfica and the Portuguese national team Antonio Fonseca commented on the national team's exit from the 2024 European Championship to Telecomasia.net.

In the quarterfinals, Portugal lost on penalties to France – 0-0 (3-5 on penalties).

The match against France was an even match where both teams had their opportunities. I believe it was a fair result for Portugal, considering we haven't scored in our last three games. However, I expected more from the team in the Euros, given the talent we have. I think Cristiano Ronaldo had an average tournament, to say the least. I do not believe this will be a good choice for the 2026 World Cup; we have other options in the attack.

In the Euro 2024 semifinals, England will face the Netherlands, while Spain will play against France. These matches will kick off on Tuesday, July 9th.
