Alejandro Gomez Suspended For 2 Years For Doping In Baby Syrup

Former Sevilla winger, Argentine Alejandro (Papu) Gomez, who plays for Serie A club Monza, has been disqualified for two years for doping, as reported by Relevo.

According to the source, Gomez, 35, tested positive for doping in November 2022, but during the investigation he managed to play for Argentina's national team at the 2022 World Cup. According to Papu Gomez's version, he took cough syrup of one of his children at night due to feeling unwell without consulting with the team's doctors.

On September 1, Sevilla announced the termination of the agreement with Gomez, which was valid until the end of the season-2023/2024. The striker had time to sign a contract with Monza and played two games in the Italian championship, without any productive actions.

This is not the first scandal involving Gomez: in August 2021, the player made accusations of assault and threat of physical violence against Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, which led to Gomez leaving Atalanta for Sevilla.
