Agent Dmitriy Seluk in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net commented on former Manchester City player Yaya Touré's statement that Dmitriy no longer represents the Ivorian.
- You were quoted in the main European sports media recently. You said that there was a curse on Manchester City by African shamans after Yaya Touré left the team, but now it has been lifted and the City will win the Champions League within three years with Guardiola. Did you think the story would go this far?
- At first everyone thought it was a joke. Then you concede two goals in two minutes with a 1-0 lead and you start to think: maybe it's not a joke? It's gotten to the point where English journalists have been calling me and asking me about this problem in all seriousness.
After all, we were family friends with Guardiola. His brother and his children were in contact with my child. I stood up for Yaya Touré because I was representing him. I think Pep understood that if I had represented him, I would have fought for him too. But now I see that Pep was right. Now Yaya has written on Twitter that I'm not his agent. And his Twitter is run by the person who wants to be his agent.
- But the agent couldn't have written that on their own. So Yaya gave them the message. He said that your words about the curse are "nonsense and lazy stereotypes," and that you don't represent him in any way.
- Yaya besmirches himself by saying this. Although he always said in all his interviews that I'm not his agent, I'm like his father. I guided him all his life. And now his life is going well, the money has been earned, the houses have been bought, the English passports have been received. He started saying that because he was afraid that Pep and I would become rivals, and he wants to take over as manager there. Because I'm so tough, everyone will be afraid to hire him. I would never betray a friend.
I'm a Barcelona fan. When we had a fight with Manchester City, I was against them all those years. And this season I'm supporting them and they're going to win all the titles. The ones I support usually win.
Touré played for Manchester City from 2010 to 2018. He won the English Premier League three times, as well as the FA Cup, the English League Cup and the FA Super Cup.
After his playing career, Touré joined the coaching staff of Olimpik Donetsk and then Akhmat Grozny. In August 2022, the Ivorian became a coach at Tottenham's academy.
