Adarabioyo’s Agent: Tosin Hasn’t Made a Decision About His International Future Yet

Tosin Adarabioyo's international future is still undecided, despite strong reports suggesting he has snubbed England and is willing to play for Nigeria. The 26-year-old has forced his way into Chelsea’s first team in recent games.

He came on against Bournemouth and excelled, which earned him a place in the team against West Ham, where he won every header and made life difficult for his manager, who now has to decide whether to keep him in the starting lineup against Brighton this weekend.

However, the main topic of discussion, both in Nigeria and in London, is where he will play his international football. Tosin, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, is eligible to represent both countries.

Telecom Asia Sport reached out to his agent, Roberto Treviño, to find out if there had been any recent developments.

As far as we are concerned, there has been nothing new. We are all just reading the same reports on the internet like you, but there is nothing at the moment. There have been some people saying he’s decided to play for Nigeria, but all I can say is that Tosin hasn’t made a decision yet, and he hasn’t been approached recently. So I can assure you that when he does, we will be in touch.

The issue of English-born players delaying their decision to represent the Super Eagles has sparked widespread debate. A former Nigerian midfielder recently voiced his frustrations on the matter during his podcast.

He said: “They want to play for England, France, or wherever, and then they wait. When they get to 25 or 26 and don’t get a call-up from England, then they turn to Nigeria. We shouldn't be treated as a second option. You should be proud of your African roots, and you should be proud to represent your African country.

“If you decide you want to play for England, stick to it. Sit and wait, but don't come to Nigeria when you're 29 or 30, after you've passed your best, saying 'Oh, Nigerian FA, I'm ready to play for you now.' No, f--k off, mate.”
