Valencia defender José Gayà has spoken out about his exclusion from the 2022 World Cup bid in Qatar.

It's not easy to accept that a childhood dream is ruined because of a slight sprain. But sometimes these things happen, and you have to accept it. Now I will become another fan and enjoy every game of the national team. I wish good luck to my teammates, because I have no doubt that this World Cup will be Spain's.
It should be recalled that the 27-year-old has sprained his Achilles tendon in training and the Spanish coach Luis Enrique has replaced him in the World Cup bid.
However, the Valencia doctors decided that the injury was minor, and the defender could have played in the Spanish team's first match at the World Cup against Costa Rica on November 23.
Interestingly, the Spanish national team has never lost with Gayà in the squad, with nine wins and three draws in 12 matches.
