International swimming governing body Fina has disallowed transgender women who have gone through male puberty to participate in women's elite races. The body has decided to create an "open" category where athletes can compete in swimming competitions irrespective of the gender assigned at birth. 71% of the 152 members approved the decision to bar the transgender women who went through male puberty to compete in women's elite races.
