Red Bull driver Max Verstappen admitted in an interview with SkySports that he was afraid of a rift with his friend and McLaren driver Lando Norris after their cars collided at the Austrian Grand Prix, causing the Briton to retire.
Following the collision, the Dutch driver only needed a wheel change. After the race, Verstappen told Norris that he knows better what he's doing behind the wheel of a car.
Max Verstappen
The only thing that I cared about is maintaining my relationship with Lando because we are great friends. We looked at the incident, it was such a silly little touch that of course had great consequences for both of us, and a bit more for Lando with how the puncture then evolved.
Earlier, the British McLaren driver also commented on the situation, emphasizing that he is not expecting an apology from the Red Bull driver.
