Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula 1 World Champion and driver for Oracle Red Bull Racing, has commented on the news of his upcoming fatherhood.
Previously, his girlfriend, model and blogger Kelly Piquet, announced her pregnancy. The 27-year-old Verstappen is already raising Piquet's daughter from her previous marriage to former F1 driver Daniil Kvyat, a five-year-old named Penelope.
Verstappen said in the paddock at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix:
Yeah. I mean, of course, I'm already kind of a bonus dad but I'm still very excited.
On November 24, the Dutch driver secured first place in the standings following the Las Vegas Grand Prix in the USA (with 429 points, one race before the end of the 2024 season), claiming his fourth consecutive title in Formula 1. On December 1, Verstappen finished first at the Qatar Grand Prix in Doha.
