Four-time Formula 1 champion, Dutch driver Max Verstappen from the Red Bull team, has openly expressed skepticism about his team's chances of winning the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix.
It will be harsher. During the first stint in Australia, we were literally destroyed with overheating, and the same in China. Here, it's going to be hot. We race at night, so it will cool down a bit, but it's still hot – with aggressive asphalt. On paper, based on what we've seen this season, it's not ideal for us compared to McLaren. But it's up to us to find improvements on the car or in the tire behavior and go from there.
On April 6, Verstappen won the main race of the third stage of the Formula 1 season, the Japanese Grand Prix, held at the Suzuka track. This victory marked the Dutch driver’s first win of the current season and the 64th of his career.
The next Grand Prix will take place at the Sakhir track in Bahrain, scheduled for April 13.
Earlier, Verstappen rated his odds for a fifth title in 2025 following his victory at the Japanese Grand Prix. Additionally, former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos commented that the Dutch pilot may be mentally prepared to leave Red Bull due to the unstable situation within the Austrian team.
