Seven-time world champion and British racing driver Lewis Hamilton published a heartfelt farewell message to Mercedes AMG Petronas on his social media ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
My last race with Mercedes AMG F1. What we’ve built together over the years is nothing short of historic. People doubted me making this move in 2013, and here we are now. The records we’ve broken, the championships we’ve won, it all speaks for itself. This won’t be the last time I thank Mercedes, but going into my final race with this team is really hitting me now. It’s really the end of an era in my life, in my career, for the team, and in F1 history.
Rumors about Hamilton's move to Scuderia Ferrari were officially confirmed on February 1, 2024, with the British driver set to join the Italian team for the 2025 season. He will be teamed up with Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc. As of one race before the end of the 2024 season, Hamilton has accumulated 211 points, placing him seventh in the individual standings.
In a conversation with RaceFans on December 1, Hamilton stated that he is not currently focused on his upcoming transition to Ferrari and prefers to concentrate on finishing the season strong before taking a winter break. Earlier, on October 13, he mentioned in an interview with Crash that his reflexes at 39 are significantly sharper than those of younger racers.
