An F1 Safety Car has heavily crashed during a high-speed track test at Monza on Thursday ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.
The safety and medical cars traditionally tour the circuit on the day before the F1 on-track action commences as the timing systems are tested for the weekend ahead.
However, an unusual twist happened as the safety car crashed during its usual pre-weekend tour of the circuit. Thankfully, the driver, Bernd Maylander, who is the traditional driver of the safety car, came away without any injuries.
