Spanish Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz has released a statement describing his condition after being hospitalized on the eve of the Grand Prix in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Underwent a smooth operation today and I'm feeling much better! Thank you for all your kind messages and to everyone that has looked after me these days here in Saudi, especially at the King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital. THANK YOU.
Recall that Carlos took part in two practice runs prior to the GP of Saudi Arabia (6 and 7 place), after which the racer had acute appendicitis, and he needed emergency hospitalization.
The Spaniard will be replaced by the team's reserve driver, 18-year-old Briton Oliver Bearman, starting from the third free practice and until the end of the race weekend.
In early January it became known that Sainz will leave Scuderia after the current season. Lewis Hamilton will take his place in the team.
