Alpine Reserve Driver Doohan to Replace Ocon at Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Jack Doohan, the reserve driver for the Alpine Formula 1 team, will replace French driver Esteban Ocon for the upcoming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, according to a statement from the racing team.

The 21-year-old Australian will be making his Formula 1 debut. As for 28-year-old Ocon, it was announced on July 25 that he will be joining the American team MoneyGram Haas next season, where he will race alongside British driver Oliver Bearman. Discussions about Ocon's replacement had been circulating even before the Qatar Grand Prix amid complaints from the driver about his car being slower than that of his teammate Pierre Gasly.

The race in the capital of the United Arab Emirates is set to take place from December 6 to 8 and will mark the final event of the 2024 Formula 1 season.
