Alonso Questions the Need for Mandatory Pit Stops in Monaco

Aston Martin Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso expressed skepticism about the proposal for mandatory pit stops during the Monaco Grand Prix, intended to make the races more exciting, stating that it is unlikely to change the competitive landscape.

Fernando Alonso
It depends where you start! If you start in the middle you need a lot, if you start second or third, maybe you need one stop, if you start last maybe 10 or 12! I won two times and it was OK with that number of stops.

The Monaco Grand Prix is set to take place from May 23-25, 2025.

Notably, Charles Leclerc from Ferrari won both qualifying and the race in 2024.

Earlier, Alonso expressed hope for podium finishes with Aston Martin.

Additionally, the 43-year-old Spanish driver made a sarcastic remark about the controversial penalty imposed on Dutch driver Max Verstappen from Red Bull during the Qatar Grand Prix.
