The FIA safety experts have decided to launch an investigation regarding the collision between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton during the Italian Grand Prix. The incident occurred during the twenty seventh lap of the final race when Verstappen attempted to overtake Hamilton but hit the back side of his car, lodging Max’s car to the top of Hamilton’s car. Lewis said that he got lucky and the halo safety device saved him as the wheel of Verstappen's car almost hit his head.. The collision didn’t lead to any serious injury but the investigation still seeks to find out what went wrong.
FIA had the following to say regarding the matter: “Incidents that are different, so it's not necessarily high G impacts or anything like that, but are unusual, we do look at. Our safety department does look at them in detail, investigate and see what we can learn and what we can improve for the future. That's how we have a whole lot of the safety features that we have today, and will continue to evolve into the future.”
