The Champions League final will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, as originally planned, despite a full lockdown in the country. This was stated in exclusive response to a request from Telecomasia.net in the UEFA media service.
«The Champions League final will take place in Istanbul on May 29 with a limited number of spectators. We are confident that the temporary full lockdown, which will last until May 17 in Turkey, will not affect the course of the title match.
UEFA continues to work closely with the Turkish Football Federation, as well as local and state authorities, to ensure that the final match is safe. Additional information on the holding of the match and the details of purchasing tickets will be published in the near future,» said UEFA.
By the decision of Turkish President Tayip Erdogan, a full lockdown is introduced in the country for the period from April 29 to May 17. On weekends, a curfew is imposed, travel between cities is only possible with permission, the lockdown will affect hotels. Transport will operate with a 50% load.
