UFC President Dana White told when the rematch might occur between UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and Australian Robert Whittaker.
UFC President Dana White
That’s a fight we want to make, so we’re working on it. I will get that done. That’s what we’re working on – we’re working on January. You know what sucks? With everything that’s going on right now, when you think about that fight, that fight should be done over there (in Australia or New Zealand). But that ain’t going to happen. Listen, I don’t like to be all cocky and sh*t, but we will do everything in our power to get that stuff worked out.
Robert Whittaker and Israel Adesanya had already met in the Octagon at UFC 243 in October 2019. The New Zealander won that fight by knockout in the second round.
Adesanya had his last fight against the Italian Marvin Vettori at UFC 263 on June 13 in Glendale, New Zealand. The Last Stylebender won by unanimous decision. He has 21 wins and one loss under his belt.
Whittaker made his last fight against American Kelvin Gastelum at UFC on ESPN 22 in April. That fight ended in favor of the Australian by UD. He has 23 wins and five losses.
